This Grain Free Fig & Vanilla Granola fills the house with the most heavenly scent! I could make it everyday, just for that smell. It is super easy to make, only takes about 10 minutes of hands on time and it is full of fabulous nutrition and taste.
I have many parents coming into the community who's kids are new to the whole foods world. That is why many of the recipes I create err on the sweeter side. Making these homemade-whole food and gut healthy versions of processed foods a little on the sweeter side at first tends to make for an easier transition. Once your taste buds are adjusted you can begin cutting back on the sweetener. This recipe calls for 1/3 cup of honey. You could use half of that amount and still get a great result.
School Snack Series #6 – The PERFECT Strawberry Smoothie!
Summer day camps are in full swing and it is hot out there! This week’s recipe and demo video is a cool, refreshing treat your child will be thrilled to find in their lunch kit! You will be thrilled to pack them a great treat that is packed full of amazing nutrients and gut healing foods! Most smoothies, especially the commercial brands are little more than big sugar bombs that cause blood sugar spikes and inflammation. This smoothie is balanced with low glycemic fruit and healthy fats. It also includes some MCT oil which is great for really quick and clean burning energy! Just what our active day campers need!
Strawberries are full of good stuff like vitamin c, folic acid and potassium. Add a little pinch of good quality sea salt and you have a nutrient dense electrolyte drink! Never mind the sports drinks!
Toss your insulated thermos containers into the freezer overnight and your smoothies will stay cool and delicious until snack time!
